Henning Kalwa interviewed by Moscow Foresight on Thailand's medical-tourism future

ImagineHealth Founder and CEO Henning Kalwa was interviewed by BM Moscow Foresight for a four-page feature on Thailand's development as a global destination for medical tourism, longevity and advanced healthcare.

Published by a media organisation of the Moscow Government, Moscow Foresight reaches a strategically important audience for Thailand. Russian travellers already represent a significant part of the country's visitor economy, while interest in medical care, preventive health and longer, healthier lives continues to grow.

Why Thailand stands out

Henning highlighted Thailand's exceptional price-to-quality ratio and the breadth of care available across advanced diagnostics, regenerative medicine, aesthetic procedures, orthopaedics, dentistry and reproductive medicine.

For international clients, however, clinical capability is only one part of the decision. Thailand also offers internationally experienced physicians, private recovery environments, attentive service and the ability to combine treatment with a comfortable stay. This is especially relevant to clients who value discretion and want the practical details of a cross-border healthcare journey to feel coordinated.

That combination allows Thailand to compete not only on cost, but on the overall quality of the experience. The country's opportunity is to articulate this advantage more clearly and build a distinctive identity within the global health economy.

Longevity as Thailand's defining opportunity

A central theme of the conversation was longevity. Henning argued that Thailand has the ingredients to establish a distinctive international position in preventive, regenerative and personalised healthcare rather than competing only in established procedure-led categories.

Longevity medicine connects advanced diagnostics, prevention, health optimisation, regenerative approaches and longer-term support. It also reflects a broader shift in healthcare: people increasingly want to understand risks earlier, preserve function and make informed decisions before illness becomes the only focus.

Regenerative medicine should not be presented as a universal solution. A credible process requires a detailed medical review, transparent discussion of limitations and contraindications, appropriate testing and clear information about the source and quality of the cells being considered.

This is precisely where independent facilitation matters. Clients need enough context to ask better questions, compare proposals and recognise when an offer lacks the safeguards or transparency that an advanced intervention demands.

Building stronger Russian-Thai healthcare connections

The discussion went beyond patient travel. Moscow Foresight also asked what Thailand and ImagineHealth could share with healthcare organisations in Moscow.

Henning pointed to Thailand's experience in international patient management: coordinated pre-travel communication, efficient scheduling, interpretation, accommodation, local logistics and culturally aware support. He also highlighted opportunities for professional exchange around longevity protocols, advanced diagnostics, personalised wellness and cross-cultural communication.
